New Location Celebrated with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) President Lori Rice- Spearman, Ph.D., and TTUHSC Executive Vice President of Clinical Affairs and School of Medicine Dean John C. DeToledo, M.D., hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony March 26 for the Texas Tech Physicians Multispecialty Clinic.
The Texas Tech Physicians Multispecialty Clinic will be home to eight clinical services including cardiology, endocrinology, family
medicine, internal medicine, orthopaedics (sports medicine), psychiatry, surgery and
urology. The clinic will include 51
exam rooms that occupy 21,000 square feet.
“Our university’s mission is to provide access to care,” Rice-Spearman said. “This new south location reinforces our commitment to grow with our community and keep high- quality health care accessible to the people we serve.”
Texas Tech Physicians, the clinical practice of TTUHSC, opened its north pavilion location in 2007. This new Texas Tech Physicians location in south Lubbock will serve approximately 420 patients a day (2,100 patients per week).
“For many decades we provided the best care at our main fourth street campus,” DeToledo said. “More than 80 staff members, physicians and health care providers will be caring for our south Lubbock community, utilizing the latest advancements in medical science and technology.”
Housed on the third floor of the UMC Health & Wellness Hospital, located at 11011 Slide Road, DeToledo said the new multispecialty clinic offers an opportunity to collaborate with the UMC Health & Wellness Hospital and also will provide patients the most advanced diagnostic tests, infusion center, pharmacy and state-of-the-art medical fitness center that complements the multidisciplinary health care provided by Texas Tech Physicians.
“Primary care, sports medicine and these specialties have been identified as a need in the southwest Lubbock Community,” DeToledo said. “We remain steadfast in our belief that the foundation of healing lies in the human connection, in listening, understanding and walking alongside each patient in their journey to wellness.”
