The Lubbock Arts Festival’s partnership with Texas Tech Physicians has provided young people with unforgettable experiences in the arts and now, that partnership has been recognized as the best in the state. The Texas Festivals and Events Association recently gave its “Best Children’s Programming” award to the Children’s Art Area presented by Texas Tech Physicians. The award was a significant component of the festival earning the honor of “Best in Texas” from the association for the third year in a row.

The area features stations where young people can make art projects that they can take home. The festival also features Art Carts spread around the festival where children can enjoy other arts experiences.

“Just as we want to make sure our children learn their math and reading, it’s also critically important that they learn to appreciate the arts. Texas Tech Physicians’ partnership ensures that every child who comes to the Lubbock Arts Festival enjoys a broad taste of arts and crafts, which will certainly help some of them to embrace the arts for their entire lives,” said Elizabeth Grigsby, Executive Director of the Lubbock Arts Alliance, which operates the festival.

“The award for Best Children’s Programming is a reflection of the success of Texas Tech Physicians’ partnership with the Lubbock Arts Alliance to offer an exceptional experience for families in our region. As a provider of research-backed care for our community, we recognize the well documented ways art benefits children, and we’re proud to provide enriching opportunities for kids to experience the arts at the Lubbock Arts Festival” said Amanda Graham, Director of Marketing and Digital Strategy for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

The 46th Lubbock Arts Festival, presented by United Supermarkets, returns April 13 - 14, 2024 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. The festival's theme is "Colorama." The event, the largest arts festival in West Texas, includes visual artists from around the nation showing and selling their artwork; performance stages with musicians, actors, and dancers; demonstrating artists; a children’s art area; special exhibits and entertainment. The Lubbock Arts Festival is the marquee project of the Lubbock Arts Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the creation, understanding, and enjoyment of the arts.
