TTP Triple Crown: CG Derby Final Standings

TTP Triple Crown: CG Derby Final Standings

As you know we are in the middle of the Triple Crown of Patient Satisfaction. The 3 races are taking place during the months of July, August, and September.

The focus of the CG Derby was “communicating test results to patients”. This is an individual domain on the CGCAHPS survey. Care providers will be assessed a star rating based solely on the responses of patients completing the survey. This should be a seemingly easy domain to score high on. The goal of the CG Derby is to improve our performance and identify best practices within our practice that can be shared with everyone. This race was for the month of July. The range of scores for our practice are 100 down to 50. The 100 equals a 5 star, which is the best. The 50 is a 2.5 star.

The final standings from the CG Derby are:

The point value will double twice with the remaining two races, so don’t be discouraged if you are at or near the bottom. You can move from the top to bottom or bottom to top very easily and quickly. Please encourage your department to do everything they can do to ensure the best service and care to each patient. It has always mattered, but with the CAHPS system, it matters even more now. The Patient Satisfaction COPIC will meet later this week to finalize the award/prize for CCH and the other two races as well.

As a reminder, the focus of the remaining two races are:

CG Preakness – Access domain of the CAHPS survey.
MP Belmont – National percentile rank compared to other academic centers measured on the Press Ganey medical practice survey (the one we have been using for the last 8-10 years).

The 5 questions that make up the overall score are:
  • Getting a routine appt as soon as needed
  • Getting an urgent appt as soon as needed
  • Getting a return call during normal business hours on the same day
  • Getting an after-hours return call as soon as needed
  • Being seen within 15 minutes of scheduled appt time

The Preakness goes from July-August.
The Belmont goes from July – September.
