MAKING A DIFFERENCE: THE FREE CLINIC EXTRAORDINARY VOLUNTEERS

“While The Free Clinic is impacting many lives by providing medical care to those that might otherwise not receive help, it also has also impacted my life through the humbling and rewarding experiences I have endured as a volunteer that have solidified my love for medicine. I am very passionate about primary care and women's health, and hope to pursue a career in which I can implement these passions. I enjoy volunteering every week at The Free Clinic, and I truly believe it has enabled me to build confidence and improve my "people skills.” I love getting to help people in the Lubbock community while also getting to implement the knowledge and skills that I have learned while in medical school.”

Katie MacLeay, a first-year School of Medicine student, is originally from San Antonio. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Angelo State University. As a former student-athlete she enjoys participating in intramural sports available to TTUHSC students.
