February 18, 2014
Because differences matter, LWBIWH improves the lives of women and girls through research,
education and outreach.
The Laura W. Bush Institute for Women’s Health (www.laurabushinstitute.org) (LWBIWH)
is accepting new members. Health care providers from all disciplines are invited to
apply for membership in a progressive multi-campus and multi-disciplinary organization
focusing on women’s health and sex- and gender-based medicine.
The institute has awarded more than $800,000 in seed grants to faculty in all schools,
several of which have led to extramural funding including the National Institutes
of Health in gender differences medicine. Outreach activities in Lubbock, Amarillo,
the Permian Basin and San Angelo have raised funds, educated consumers, and brought
attention to women’s health.
LWBIWH members have the opportunity to network with fellow TTUHSC and Angelo State
University College of Health and Human Services faculty and receive an invitation
to the institute’s annual networking meeting and quarterly interdisciplinary interest
groups; apply for seed grants and the Speakers Bureau for external speaking opportunities
with potential stipend and national recognition.
Members also get the chance to be a part of a variety of views in the field of sex-and
gender-medicine including research, professional education program development, and/or
community outreach.
Membership is based upon academic interest and support in the science of women’s health
and sex- and gender-based medicine. Application for membership is made through the
office of the LWBIWH. Approval will be determined based upon alignment with the institute’s
mission.
