Erica Peña, an administrative assistant, has been with the Department of Orthopaedics
for five years. She was born and raised in the Hub City and has been married to her
high school sweetheart for the last 16 years. The happy couple has three boys and
one girl. Their oldest son is a Marine stationed in San Diego. He is currently on
assignment in the Philippines. He is scheduled to deploy to Afghanistan in the coming
months. Peña is leading the charge to bring some home comfort to our troops through
the Adopt- A-Platoon program. This initiative sends items like books, cookies, toothpaste,
Twizzlers, tums, Q-tips, stationary, jerky and other non-perishables to troops deployed
with his platoon. Peña not only exhibits service excellence within Orthopaedics, but
also by supporting our troops. We thank her for her willingness to help and we certainly
thank her son and all of our service members for their protection of our country and
the world.
