SPIRIT Spotlight: Janelle Escobar, Patient Service Specialist, Pediatrics

With that said, it is an understatement to say Janelle Escobar is a valued person that daily exhibits the mindset and action of SPIRIT valued by her peers . Perhaps the best way to establish Escobar's fantastic nature is to relate her attitude and actions to TTP’s SPIRIT goal.

Service Excellence - Escobar extends service excellence to patients and peers. When hired as a patient service specialist (PSS) in May 2007, she immediately exceeded the job requirements and mastered the system. Escobar knew each patient by name, kept track of personal details of people around her, and donated her time to ensuring a pleasant environment. She is always willing to train new patient service specialists in the pediatric clinic. She also trains other new employees in such a way that they feel confident and part of a family.Patients First - It was understood from day one that patients are the first priority in Escobar's mind. Multiple people say she goes out of her way to make each patient feel special. People naturally gravitate to her because of her kind heart and warm smile. With her PSS and medical coding knowledge, she makes sure patients are seamlessly and happily routed through their medical visits. Integrity - It is important to note that Escobar's colleagues trust her. If she says she will do something, she will accomplish it. Through consistent work and quiet diligence, people have come to know they can depend on Escobar.   Respect - People's feelings are important to Escobar. With empathy in mind, she goes out of her way to respect others' feelings and thoughts in whatever way she can.Innovation - In addition to not allowing patients to settle for sub-par service, Escobar never let herself settle for current standards. Though she was hired as a PSS, she yearned to grow within her department. In an effort to advance her career, Escobar attained certification as a medical billing and coding specialist. While in the billing department, she energizes the environment, increasing the efficiency of the billing office and making the work of the entire section flow smoothly. Teamwork - Escobar’s colleagues have described her as calm, kind and extremely patient. Knowing of her team-centered mindset, administrators included Escobar as a mentor in a new program designed to allow new employees to have a smoother transition. Because of her outgoing personality and willingness to teach, Escobar is always a valued addition to any department.
