SPIRIT Spotlight: Shalene Vick, director of School of Medicine reporting, analysis
and budgeting
November 12, 2013
This week we feature an individual from the administrative area of the school, Shalene
Vick, director of School of Medicine Reporting, Analysis, and Budgeting.
Vick has been with the school for 26 years. She is a loyal and dedicated employee
who always strives to be helpful to anyone who needs her services. Vick has an excellent
understanding of all aspects of accounting and budgeting processes for Texas Tech
Physicians and the School of Medicine. She is the go-to person on all financial questions
and if she doesn’t have the answer — she knows where to find it and will do so quickly.
She has watched many changes at the school during her years of service.
“It has been interesting to watch the progress that the school has made during my
time with it. I think we are on the right track and see a positive future for the
school and Texas Tech Physicians,” she said. “I enjoy my job — no two days are alike
and the people at TTUHSC are the best. I have made many good friends over the years.”
Vick is married to Perry and she has three children. Her youngest daughter, Brittany,
attends South Plains College and we hope to see her in the School of Allied Health
Sciences before too long. Vick lives in Hale Center, but is always on time for work
and willing to stay late if needed.
“Shalene Vick is one of the finest individuals I have had the privilege of working
with during my 30+ years in health care,” said Brent Magers, executive associate dean
and CEO of Texas Tech Physicians. “She epitomizes the great characteristics that one
hopes to see in an employee.”
Nancy Gomez, senior analyst, has worked alongside Vick since she has been with the
school.
“Shalene is a wonderful supervisor and a pleasure to work for because she is fair,
friendly and knows what she is talking about,” Gomez said.
