Mary Vasquez, family medicine, received the 2013 SPIRIT Award for Service Excellence.

Vasquez constantly strives to exceed the needs and expectations of patients and peers:

“Mary’s approach to working with patients is a great representation of the value of service excellence. She is exceptionally friendly to everyone who crosses her path during the day — patient, faculty or staff. She goes out of her way to make sure patients get to the right place in TTUHSC, even when they are not family medicine patients. Our clinic routinely receives compliments from patients who make an extra effort to tell us how great Mary is. In fact, the very first call received on the newly launched patient help hotline was about Mary:  ‘Mary at the front desk of family medicine is wonderful. She went above and beyond for me. I’ll say even more, she went far beyond for me. She really helped me out. She is great.’”
