March Patient Satisfaction Tip: Talk Up the Next Encounter
March 19, 2013
A trip to the doctor’s office can be stressful for patients – especially new patients.
A simple patient satisfaction tip to help ease the stress of new and existing patients
is to talk up the patient’s next encounter. What does this mean? I’ll answer this
question with two examples.
Example 1: If you are a nurse or front desk person, talk up the patient’s next encounter
by saying:
“So you’re here to see Dr. Jumper today. She’s really great. I think you will like
her. She’s an excellent physician.”
Example 2: If you are a provider, talk up the patient’s next encounter by saying:
“Thank you again for coming in today. Our front desk staff will help you get checked
out and they can also schedule your follow-up appointment. They’re very friendly.”
This simple tip can effectively ease patient stress. It shows we are confident in
our level of care and customer service. Our confidence will instill confidence in
our patients and they will leave feeling satisfied.
