Carisa Akin, Family Medicine, received the 2013 SPIRIT Award for Teamwork:

“I would like to nominate Carisa Akin, head nurse of Family Medicine. She has a great personality and work ethic. Any time we call or email needing help or information from her she is quick to respond with an answer or a reply she is working on it. She is always smiling and friendly. In the weekly coding meeting she is always seeing how we can do things better or save money instead of writing things off. I think Carisa is very deserving of this SPIRIT award. She has the most spirit and positive thinking of anyone around.

If you were to look up the word teamwork in the dictionary, you would see a picture of Carisa.  She is one of, if not the best, supervisor I have ever had.  She never asks us to do anything she is unwilling to do herself and she is always fair and impartial, speaking truth and not sugar coating issues in our clinic that need to be addressed.  She strives to build us up and encourage us to be the best we can be individually and as a nursing team.  Her cheerful and energetic demeanor is contagious and awesome patient care is number one on her agenda every day. “
