Five Outstanding Teacher of the Year Recipients Named

School of Medicine students have named five faculty members Outstanding Teachers of the Year. The award is designed to honor faculty considered to possess knowledge of material, enthusiasm for subject matter, demonstrated interest in learning, flexible teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, patients and empathy with students and demonstrated belief that teaching is an active process.

The 2013 recipients are:
  • James Hutson, Ph.D., Department of Cell Biology and Biochemistry, first-year medical students
  • J. Barry Lombardini, Ph.D., Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience, second-year medical students
  • Samuel Campbell, M.D., Department of Surgery, third-year medical students, Lubbock
  • Dan Galvan, M.D., Department of Surgery, third-year medical students, Amarillo
  • Donald E. Crockett Jr., M.D., Department of Surgery, third-year medical students, Permian Basin

The awards are sponsored by the Student Senate and will be presented at the Annual Awards and Installation Banquet hosted by the Office of Student Services and the Student Government Association.
