2012 Respect Award: Virginia Galvan - image0"In reviewing the SPIRIT values Virginia Galvan automatically comes to my mind. Virginia is respected by those who know her for her commitment to accomplishing her work in excellence and for being team oriented. Virginia has assisted others within her peer group with master schedules and templates. She has always made herself available to those that are in need of her assistance. Each week Virginia reviews the schedules and the departmental wait list to see if there are opportunities to fill empty appointment slots with patients from the wait list. Virginia also looks for ways to optimize the clinic’s flow by moving patients as needed and or discussing the provider’s schedule with them for possible changes. Virginia continuously looks for ways to improve our service to patients, improvements to the front desk area and the clinic. Virginia attends our monthly faculty and team meetings as well as conducting monthly meetings for the front desk staff. Virginia is very respectful in her interactions with everyone that she encounters. Virginia flashes her pretty smile and interacts with each person as though they are the only one around. Even when she is multitasking she can make you feel as though, whatever your need, she will make sure that it is taken care of. If she cannot personally take care of it then she will try to find someone that can. Virginia is on several committees within the department and the School of Medicine, and although her position does not always allow her to actively participate, she will do everything that she can to fulfill her commitments. I believe that Virginia is an excellent representative of our SPIRIT values."
