Students to Celebrate Women’s Health Day by Hosting Free Clinic
February 28, 2012
School of Medicine students will host a Women’s Health Day free clinic from 10 a.m.
to 2 p.m. March 31 at the Lubbock IMPACT/TTUHSC Free Clinic, 2707 34th St.
The facility is a non-billing clinic where people without medical insurance can be
seen for various medical problems. Patients of all ages seek care on a first-come
first-served basis each Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m.; however, routine women’s health
services are not normally offered during these hours.
The Women’s Health Day clinic in March will provide medical services like pelvic exams
and pap smears, STD screenings, breast exams, pregnancy tests and prenatal referrals
as well as referrals for bone density screenings and mammograms.
Fiona Prabhu, M.D., serves as the clinic’s medical director, and Kelly Bennett, M.D.,
is the assistant medical director. Both are from the Department of Family and Community
Medicine.
