Our former student Wyatt McMahon passed away from a brain tumor in September 2018 at the age of 41. Wyatt was a great friend and colleague to many of us, and he will be deeply missed. In his honor, the annual Outstanding Graduate Student award has been renamed the K. Wyatt McMahon Outstanding Graduate Student Award to recognize the many contributions that Dr. McMahon has made to science and the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.

The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences will present the first K. Wyatt McMahon Outstanding Graduate Student award at commencement on May 11, 2019. Anyone who wants to donate in memory of Wyatt should contact Pam Johnson.

With this award, we remember Wyatt as an amazing scientist and a friend to all.
