The Pediatric Program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo
is about to grow even stronger.
Already, the residency program boasts over 30 faculty members and has six pediatric
residents per year of training.  Upon this strong foundation, even more expansive
care is about to be built.  On Nov. 16, 2015, TTUHSC announced that three new pediatric
specialty positions -- two pediatric pulmonologists and one pediatric neurologist
-- will be created in Amarillo.
Children’s Miracle Network pledged $1 million in support toward the creation of these
positions, and Northwest Texas Healthcare System will provide up to $200,000 per year
toward the operating costs.  This support will enable TTUHSC at Amarillo to better
provide for the needs of children in the Panhandle.
“These additional sub-specialties will allow us to continue our mission of offering
incredible learning experiences for our students, as well as, serve the community
that we hold so dear,” said Todd Bell, M.D., regional chair, Department of Pediatrics.
“We could not be more excited to be welcoming these positions to TTUHSC at Amarillo.”
