Robin Satterwhite, EdD, dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, said the school’s administration works to ensure that the quality of education is the same in the online programs offered as it is in TTUHSC’s face-to-face classes.
“As a result, they continue to grow in popularity and related enrollment,” he said. “We are proud of our faculty, support staff and students within our various online programs.”
The School of Nursing’s graduate online program was ranked No. 30 out of 101 in the 2013 U.S. News and World Report Best Online Graduate Nursing Programs. Upon announcement of the rankings, Michael Evans, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean of the School of Nursing, said, “TTUHSC’s nursing school was one of the first in the country to offer entire graduate courses online. All of our master’s programs are offered online … we know this is the way of the future.” In 2014, the School of Nursing ranked No. 28.
Michael Keller, MBA, assistant dean of Learning Technologies and the program director for the School of Allied Health Sciences online program in clinical services management, said students appreciate the online course offerings.
“TTUHSC’s distance education programs within the School of Allied Health Sciences currently has more than 450 students enrolled in two bachelor’s and two master’s programs, as well as one doctoral program,” he said. “These students tell us that they are looking for an affordable way to obtain a quality education that will enhance their job and income potential, which is why they enroll in our distance education programs.”
TTUHSC was recognized for its efforts in diverse online education options and student support offered in the programs, according to the Edudemic list. There were 488 schools evaluated to determine the best online programs in Texas. According to Edudemic, the list was decided after looking at the cost of tuition, academic support, retention of information, graduation rates, program offerings and course diversity for each course examined.
